Hello!. I'm DJ Sanspants, co-host of We Let The Hats Decide. I don't know if you noticed, but this year was also terrible. Here's some of this year's releases that I really dug, in order of release date.
1. Service // High Speed Vomit (Self-Released)
A Boston area band I need to pay more attention to. Fun, loud, mathy stuff.
2. Hiatus Kaiyote// Mood Valiant (Brainfeeder)
I never got into them before but I absolutely love this album.
3.Knock Over City// Dungeon Module 666 (Constant Disappointment)
If Knock Over City releases anything it'll most likely make it on this list. I'm not just saying this because they're friends, I really love their music and it just keeps getting better.
4. Mars Kumari// Mars Kumari Type Beat (Deadverse)
Insanely good ambient beats on MC Dalek's label.
5. Makaya McCraven// Deciphering The Message (Blue Note)
Makaya McCraven was given access to the Blue Note vault and the result is even better than you were expecting.
Here's a bunch of other stuff I liked this year.
